Dawn2Dawn Technologies believes in a new approach to achieving optimum client satisfaction.

Born to lead

Borne out of a desire to create a leading service-oriented organisation that is wholly black-owned and which outclasses its competition in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) space, particularly on the Oracle platform, Dawn2Dawn (D2D) Technologies provides customer satisfaction through dependability, reliability and availability.

Formerly New Dawn Prophesy Business Solutions, the company has grown from strength to strength, introducing infrastructure, hosting services and a number of niche software solutions and applications, designed to give client organisations’ distinctive competencies.

What’s in the name

“Our strength clearly lies in the manner of our strategic partnering, which enables us to deliver wall-to-wall solutions, which are then further distinguished by our own internal and continuous human capital development and capacity building,” says CEO Kgabo Hlahla. “The name, I think, says it all. ‘Dawn2Dawn’ suggests that we are now viewing the future through fresh eyes and with new ideas. We believe that by analysing the present in terms of the past, we can accurately predict the future. After all, doing things repeatedly in the same way will inevitably lead to the same result, therefore a new approach is required if we are to achieve optimum client satisfaction.”

Hlahla suggests that D2D’s offerings take companies and businesses to a higher trajectory of profitability and sustainability, and continue to add value as these organisations gravitate into the future. “As our mantra says: ‘Every Oracle needs a prophesy’. We have over the years built internal capacity, capability and effective delivery model, and we count among our clients a variety of big corporations, and state enterprises, as well as national, provincial and local government departments, not to mention many in the small and medium enterprise (SME) market space.”

Looking to the Oracle

Dawn2Dawn Technologies is quite capable of providing a full turnkey delivery of the Oracle Technology product set and related services – including sales, configuration, implementation and support. “As a company, we are experienced Oracle implementers. While we do Oracle development – bespoke software using the Oracle platform – ERP is a key focus of ours. After all, most companies, regardless of their size, want to automate, consolidate, eliminate duplication, improve security and reap economies of scale,” he says.

“Where Dawn2Dawn Technologies has the advantage is that we can deliver one application that can do all of the above. That, ultimately, is what Dawn2Dawn Technologies delivers, thanks to the Oracle e-Business Suite.”

Hlahla points out that the Oracle e-Business Suite is recognised as the most comprehensive suite of integrated, global business applications that provides the most complete, integrated business intelligence portfolio; the most adaptable global business platform; and the most customer-focused applications strategy.

A new dawn

This gives its current and future clients the peace of mind that the solutions built and delivered by it are of the highest quality.

The size, status and national reach of the New Dawn organisation also allows it to occupy a space previously dominated by the more traditional large consulting houses. In terms of growth, the group has further acquisitions planned, with the goal of continuing to expand its service and product offering in response to the market’s demands. A key focus area in future will be the SME sector and the company will continue to increase its national footprint to better support initiatives within this market space. Expansion into Africa is also part of the company’s future plans.

Skills and the economic downturn

One area in which the company is vigorously committed is that of skills development. According to Hlahla, several years ago, Dawn2Dawn Technologies implemented an ongoing leadership and experiential trainee programme, which brings on board young graduates from tertiary institutions.

“After spending around 18 to 24 months with us, they have become highly marketable. At this point, we keep those that we can, while also assisting those that have outgrown our environment to pursue their dreams in other organisations,” he says. “On average we host 10 individuals in each programme, which forms part of our contribution to the skills pool. For programme and project management, project administration and the like, we continue to skill our current staff. We work hard to maximise and optimise the existing skills and resources we have in these key positions.”

Flexibility and agility built-in

Looking to the problems that business has experienced due to the economic downturn, Hlahla says that in the present challenging economic environment, IT isn’t always at the forefront of expenditure priorities. “It is clear that some of the benefits of IT aren’t always visible to everyone. At the same time, competition is tough, there’s a need to consolidate and of course we are seeing more mergers and acquisitions, as fragmented organisations are unable to perform well enough.”

“In an environment like this, often the biggest challenge is around the ever-changing client needs. For this reason, when one designs an application, it is imperative to build flexibility and agility into it, in order to be able to scale and change as the client’s needs shift,” says Hlahla.

Another key issue that he indicates is vital is that of change management. After all, even if an organisation offers the best solutions and expertise, if the management of change is inadequate during the implementation, the project may still be doomed to failure. “For this reason, we have futuristic solutions – we don’t implement any solutions in the present that will not still be relevant in the future.”
